Monza, 19th March - Second day of testing for Ferrari at Monza. Michael Schumacher was scheduled to a grand prix simulation today with the F 310 B fitted with an 046/2 engine. Unfortunately he had a spin and hit a barrier at the side of the track, badly damaging the gearbox. Once it was repaired, the German driver did just a few laps to check that everything was in order. He did a total of 18 laps with a best time of 1m 25.208s. Eddie Irvine worked until halfway through the afternoon on finding the best set-up for his car, fitted with an 046/1 engine. From 15h30 onwards the Irish driver began a series of tyre tests. Irvine completed 47 laps with a best time of 1m 25.179s. Tomorrow, Schumacher will once again attempt the long run which was interrupted today while Irvine will continue testing Goodyear tyres.
