Monza, March 20th - Third and final day of testing for Scuderia Ferrari- Marlboro at the Monza circuit. Today, Michael Schumacher was tasked with the long run test cancelled yesterday after he went off the track. Apart from a small problem with the clutch at the start, the grand prix simulation was successfully completed. Following this, a programme of tyre tests was carried out with positive results. Schumacher did 63 laps, which added to 18 yesterday, makes a total of 472 kilometres run with this particular 046/2 engine. The quickest lap was 1m 24.134s, which is quicker than Damon Hill's pole position time in last year's Italian Grand Prix. Eddie Irvine spent the whole day testing four different types of Goodyear tyre. Driving a F 310 B fitted with an 046/1 engine, the Irish driver completed 65 laps with a best time of 1m 24.598s. "I am pleased with the result of testing," said Irvine at the end of the day. "The work of the last few days was aimed more at the future than at the next race as the Monza track is completely different to Interlagos." Tomorrow at Fiorano, Irvine will carry out the shake-down test of the three cars to be used in Brazil, as well as carrying out further tyre testing work as will Schumacher the following day.
